ABBA’s ‘Voyage’ show is set to make its way around the world, according to Universal Music Group chairman Lucian Grainge.
The show opened in May 2022 at the specially-built ABBA Arena in Stratford, east London, where it’s set to play through January 2024 at least.
In a company earnings call, Grainge discussed the future of the concert and revealed: “Plans are now in development to take ‘ABBA Voyage’ around the world.” (via Variety).
No other information – including cities, venues and dates – has been announced.
‘ABBA Voyage’ sees digital versions of the group perform with a 10-piece live band, with the venue offering a 360-degree immersive experience.
Speaking in RETROPOP’s August 2022 issue, producer Ludvig Andersson suggested they’re working on creating similar arenas around the world.
“The biggest dream is to stay in London and we build another one somewhere else,” he said. “Where that would be – I’d like to go places that are maybe not the obvious ones. It would be nice to take it to places that aren’t always visited by the big bands.
“The dream would be to have one somewhere in South America, one somewhere in Southeast Asia, one in North America. Who knows? But that’s the plan and we’re working on that already.”
