ABBA are set to make their US Top 10 debut with their new album ‘Voyage’.
The group enjoyed success Stateside in their ‘70s heyday but never broke into the Top 10 of the Billboard 200, coming closest with 1977’s ‘ABBA: The Album’ at No. 14.
However, that all looks set to change as their comeback LP – the group’s first since ‘The Visitors’ in 1981 – is projected to hit No. 2 in its opening week.
According to Hits Daily Double, the record may sell 70,000 – 80,000 US copies, with streams of the album expected to add around 10,000 to the total.
As things stand, that places ‘Voyage’ second only to Summer Walker’s Still Over It which, based on data, will do 185,000 – 210,000 in total units.
However, only around 12,000 will come from pure sales, while the remaining numbers come from track sales and streams.
‘Voyage’ looks set to debut atop the charts worldwide, including in the UK, where it’s currently outselling the entire Top 40 combined.
In a review of the album, Retro Pop called ‘Voyage’ “a fitting closing chapter in the tale of Sweden’s best-loved musical export”
‘Voyage’ is available on CD, vinyl and cassette.
