ABBA are switching up their ‘Voyage’ virtual concert for the first time with new setlist changes.
The Swedish pop legends – which consisted of Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad – launched the residency at the purpose-built ABBA Arena in Stratford, east London in March 2022, featuring digital replicas of the group performing their biggest hits with a live band.
Now, for the first time in the show’s history, the concert is being revamped with changes to the running.
In a statement released on Thursday (March 27), ABBA said: “When we first opened, we never imagined that we’d still be in London 3 years on. We’re very grateful that so many of you have joined us. Of course, the reason for us being able to sustain our concert for so long is because of our incredible audience. As we say in Sweden… Vilken resa!”
“So, to celebrate we’ll be adding a little something to our concert from the 27th of May to thank you for your love and support. We hope you enjoy it!”
Speaking exclusively to RETROPOP following the launch of ‘ABBA Voyage’, producer Ludvig Andersson first revealed that the group had captured additional content during the recording sessions for the spectacle, which were planned to be added at a later date.
“We did more songs than we knew we were going to use,” he shared. “So there is more material. If this keeps running and people keep wanting to come and see it, we are intending to change a song out or update the show – because that’s also fun to do.”
