Ahead of their first reunion tour in 16 years, Oasis’ manager, Alec McKinlay, has discussed the possibility of new material from the rockers.
The group – starring Liam and Noel Gallagher – announced their world tour last year, with 41 dates booked for 2025, playing stadiums around the UK this summer before going global later in the year.
The announcement was met with unprecedented demand, resulting in the band adding several additional shows to the run, of which McKinlay says: “The group of people who knew about it in advance was very limited. We were working with people we trusted.
“We’d obviously been planning it for a while and the moment when it went live was a little bit of a step into the unknown in terms of how big the reaction would be,” he tells MusicWeek.
“When it all hit home, it was just phenomenal. The reaction was very much one of, ‘Finally, some good news after all the nonsense that’s been going on in the world.’”
He went on to reflect on whether fans can expect to hear new music from Oasis, seemingly dashing hopes of fresh material from the Champagne Supernova hitmakers – despite Liam previously confirming the band had been back in the studio, before brushing it off as a joke.
“This is very much the last time around, as Noel’s made clear in the press,” he said. “It’s a chance for fans who haven’t seen the band to see them, or at least for some of them to.”
He added: “No, there’s no plan for any new music.”
