Depeche Mode‘s Wagging Tongue has been reworked by indie rockers Wet Leg as part of a new remix package from the electronic group.
Lifted from Dave Gahan and Martin Gore’s ‘Memento Mori’, the new version offers a more vibrant take on the gloomy number while elevating the frontman’s signature vocals.
Check out the full remix package, with contributions from Kid Moxie, Daniel Avery and Gabe Gurnsey, below.
The duo recently announced an extended run of dates for the fourth leg of their ‘Memento Mori Tour’, following stadium and arena shows across Europe, Mexico, Canada, and the US this summer and autumn.
Resuming in January, they will play an additional 29 dates across the continent, beginning at The O2, London and finishing April 5 after multiple nights at Lanxess Arena in Cologne, Germany.
The 22-city tour will see the duo play multiple nights at Berlin’s Mercedes-Benz Arena, Paris’ Accor Arena, Madrid’s Wizink Center, Milan’s Mediolanum Forum, and more.
The ‘Memento Mori’ album and tour follows the passing of founding member Andy Fletcher, with Dave sharing of the project: “It’s been a really enjoyable process, making this record with Martin, and James Ford, and Marta Salogni.
“We get to make music and we get to play music for you, hopefully bring a sense of joy and togetherness in our own small way, in a world that seems to be constantly in some kind of turmoil.
“It sometimes feels a bit strange to be able to do this, any time, but to be able to walk on a stage and bring some joy to a lot of people, I hope, is something that I think we are pretty proud of.”
‘Memento Mori’ is out now on Columbia.
