Kate Bush has shared a rare note to fans after her classic hit Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God) surpassed one billion streams.
The legendary musician took to her website after the track – which has seen a surge in popularity thanks to its appearance on the ‘Stranger Things’ soundtrack – passed the milestone.
“A billion streams! I have an image of a river that suddenly floods and becomes many, many tributaries – a billion streams – on their way to the sea,” she penned. “Each one of these streams is one of you…
“Thank you! Thank you so much for sending this song on such an impossibly astonishing journey. I’m blown away.”
It was recently announced that Bush will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame later this year, alongside George Michael, Sheryl Crow, Missy Elliott, Willie Nelson, Rage Against the Machine and The Spinners.
“This year’s incredible group of Inductees reflects the diverse artists and sounds that define rock & roll,” said John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation.
“We are honoured that this November’s Induction Ceremony in New York will coincide with two milestones in music culture; the 90th birthday of Willie Nelson and the 50th Anniversary of the birth of Hip Hop.”
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2023 induction ceremony will take place at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on November 3.
