Daft Punk star Thomas Bangalter has unveiled his new single Le Minotaure, lifted from his first orchestral album ‘Mythologies’.
Originally conceived for a ballet score and performed at Bordeaux’s Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux last July, the LP was co-produced by Opéra National de Bordeaux and Ballet Preljocal.
Taking place over 90 minutes, it tackles “founding myths that shape the collective imagination,” with the single appearing as the 13th movement of the piece.
Due April 7, the electronic star’s album introduces a new sound for the star which, according to a press release, focuses on “the large-scale traditional force of a symphony and, as such, it embraces the history of orchestral ballet music”.
The project is his first since Daft Punk announced their split in February 2021, following 28 years together.
A reason for the breakup has yet to be confirmed.
