80s favourite Limahl is helping raise funds for the Countess Of Chester Hospital by auctioning off a cake inspired by Kajagoogoo’s hit Ooh To Be Ah.
Taking to Facebook, the singer shared a video showing off the delicious design, featuring a fondant sculpture of him sat amid imagery from that era in the group’s history.
In the caption, he wrote: “Today at 15.00 (UK) I’m going to unveil this amazing Limahl Cake made by Jules at ‘Cake Chester’ – it’s the exact outfit I wore in the Kajagoogoo video for our single ‘Ooh To Be Ah’ (No’7 UK chart hit).
“A duplicate will be auctioned to raise funds for the ICU at the Countess Of Chester Hospital.”
The model of Limahl shows him rocking his iconic 80s bleached mullet hairstyle, as he’s surrounded by album and single covers, and publicity shots of the group.
Earlier this year, Limahl celebrated 40 years in music with the release of his new single, Still In Love.
“I have definitely been in the same place emotionally as our protagonist in the song,” he said in a press release.
“Dark days, unable to get out of bed with curtains staying closed, (gay love is just as painful as straight love), however, what a great feeling when u get through the other side and start learning to love yourself again.”
He continued: “I wasn’t going through this at the time of writing the song, far from it, have been blissfully happy with my lovely partner Steve for 26 years and in our ‘Civil Partnership’ for 11 years.”
