David Bowie’s early ‘00s album ‘Toy’ will finally receive a full release.
The LP, which was recorded in 2001 and leaked online in 2011, will be available in a three-CD box set on 7 January, weeks after its issued as part of the ‘David Bowie 5: Brilliant Adventure’ box set in November.
Of the much-anticipated release, producer Mark Plati says: “’Toy’ is like a moment in time captured in an amber of joy, fire and energy. It’s the sound of people happy to be playing music.

“David revisited and re-examined his work from decades prior through prisms of experience and fresh perspective – a parallel not lost on me as I now revisit it twenty years later.
“From time to time, he used to say ‘Mark, this is our album’ – I think because he knew I was so deeply in the trenches with him on that journey.
“I’m happy to finally be able to say it now belongs to all of us”.
The artwork for the release, which includes a combination of new material and revamped versions of earlier songs, feature’s Bowie’s adult face superimposed over that of a baby.
It’s preceded by a radio edit of the song You’ve Got a Habit of Leaving, which is out now digitally.
‘Toy’ is available to pre-order on CD and vinyl, along with the ‘David Bowie 5: Brilliant Adventure‘ box set.
