NSYNC star Chris Kirkpatrick felt rivalry between his group and other boybands like Backstreet Boys and 98 Degrees.
The group, also starring Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone and Lance Bass, scored massive hits including I Want You Back, Bye Bye Bye and This I Promise You in the late ‘90s.
And while the group was at the top of its game, the singer admitted during a chat with AJ McLean [Backstreet Boys] and Jeff Timmons [98 Degrees] for Variety he felt “competition” between his rivals.
While AJ and Jeff insisted they weren’t fazed by their peers, Chris fired: “That’s a lie! Back in the day, there was competitiveness.
“There were underlying things that we all had. I was afraid of you!”
Although they’ve become close over the years, Chris went on to recall a time he and AJ couldn’t be in the same room as one another.
“There was a time when I couldn’t be in the same room with this guy,” he said. “But there’s always been a mutual respect, and now that we’re all parents, we’ve grown up.
“Reflecting on things, it’s cool to see what each of the bands did and how it all worked together.”
