Elton John and Olly Alexander are set to hit the stage at Tuesday’s BRIT Awards with a performance of the Pet Shop Boys classic It’s a Sin.
According to insiders, the I’m Still Standing star will teams up with Years & Years frontman Olly for a rendition of the tune, after the young singer/actor starred in the Channel 4 LGBTQ+ drama series of the same name.
Sources tell The Sun: “Elton and Olly have become unlikely pals and when the idea was floated that they should perform together on the night they jumped at it.
“It has been a last-minute decision and it is all being kept hush hush so there will be a surprise for viewers, but they have been working hard to put on something really special.”
Ahead of the show, Elton, Olly and BRITs officials teased the performance on their Instagram pages, with each sharing a word from the title of the iconic track.
The 2021 BRIT Awards takes place at London’s The O2 arena on Tuesday night, with Coldplay opening the show with a pre-recorded performance of their latest single Higher Power from a pontoon on the River Thames nearby the venue.
The Weeknd, Olivia Rodrigo, Dua Lipa, Arlo Parks, Rising Star-winner Griff and Headie One are also set to take to the stage.
