Will Young will strip back some of his biggest hits for the star’s first ever acoustic tour later this year.
The singer returned to music this week with Daniel, the lead single from his forthcoming eighth studio album ‘Crying on the Bathroom Floor’, due for release August 6.
The collection features 10 cover versions, with Will paying tribute to “the modern female artists I so admire in pop” – and, when he takes the LP on the road, he’s going to rework the tracks again with an all-acoustic set.
The Leave Right Now hitmaker will perform new tracks, classic hits and answer audience questions with a Q&A.
Tickets for my September acoustic shows with Q&As are NOW ON SALE! I’ll be performing some of the new tracks from #CryingOnTheBathroomFloor plus some older faves, and can’t wait to chat to you all. Tix available at: https://t.co/8SIiOn9BX8 pic.twitter.com/sQ6RDivOT2

Speaking about ‘Crying on the Bathroom Floor’, Will previously shared: “I’ve always enjoyed singing other people’s songs. There is a liberation to it. It’s how I feel when I approach a script. I have reverence for the piece of art and the artist who created it.
“After 18 years of recording and performing a lot of original material, I loved the idea of creating an album that celebrates some of the modern female artists I so admire in pop.
“In today’s times it’s so much easier and accepted to occupy other genders, ideas and explore new avenues.
“I wanted to understand what it might be like to sing their lyrics; a song about a boy called Daniel; crying on the bathroom floor, feeling like Elizabeth Taylor.”
He insisted: “This is not a covers album as such, well certainly not in the standard way. I wanted to bring songs from female artists who I admire into a new arena. I wanted to work with Richard X again and create a true pop record.”
‘Crying on the Bathroom Floor’, due August 6, is available to pre-order now on CD, Standard Black and Deluxe Marbled Turquoise Vinyl, and Sage Green Cassette. A Signed CD and Photo Card bundle is available via Amazon.
