Róisín Murphy is following her hit 2020 LP ‘Róisín Machine’ with a new remix album
Due for release April 30, ‘Crooked Machine’ is described as the “afterparty” to ‘Róisín Machine’ and is preceded by lead single Assimilation, out now.
In an email sent out to her mailing list, the Something More hitmaker shares: “The ‘Crooked Machine’ album is coming. Think of ‘Róisín Machine’ as the main event, ‘Crooked Machine’ rings deeper into the night, carrying a familiar feeling of the songs you’ve heard before, with darker twists and turns.
“It’s the afterparty and you’re all invited,” she teases. “Parrot (Crooked Man) is my main collaborator – we worked on ‘Róisín Machine’ together and he quite often came up with various versions of a song.
“This album is Parrot’s take on the whole album.”
In a press release, she adds: “Parrot doesn’t try to be ‘cool’, I reckon that’s the last thing on his mind. He makes music with a real sense of responsibility to the craft. He just cannot make rubbish music, he’d be too ashamed.
“So everything he is and everything he has learned, is put into everything he does,” muses Róisín. “I think Crooked Machine is one of his greatest achievements so far. I left him and Fat Dave to their own devices on this and they have outdone themselves! I absolutely love it!
“I think I prefer it to the original album, slightly less me and all the more ‘cool’ for it!”
The digital album is available to pre-order now. A limited edition vinyl LP release will drop on Record Store Day (June 11).
