Steps have been given the seal of approval from Jenny Silver – who originally performed their latest single, Something In Your Eyes.
The group released the second single from their forthcoming album, What The Future Holds, last week and, after quickly becoming a fan favourite, news of the release reached Swedish star Jenny.
In a post on Facebook, she penned: “Finally!..somebody has realized the hit factor of SIYE and made a stylish and sexy cover – thank you Steps, we’re honoured and flattered… hoping for a chart-attack for you guys.”
Something In Your Eyes was originally performed by Jenny Silver at Melodifestivalen 2011 in a bid to represent her country at the Eurovision Song Contest that year. However, it was knocked out at the first semi-final, with Eric Saade going on to represent the country and finishing in second place with his hit Popular.
In a press release, Claire Richards said of the tune: “It’s so much fun… It’s a real nod to old Steps, but it works so well alongside the lead single.
“You can’t help but sing along to it and feel uplifted by it.”
The group also premiered a slick new video for the single, telling the Daily Star the visual is “the most campy, fun, colourful video yet since our 2017 comeback” and it “has the most fun dance routine we’ve done in years”.
Steps made a sensational comeback in September with the Sia-penned title track from their forthcoming LP – which they followed with mid-tempo ballad Under My Skin.
Pre-order the album What The Future Holds, released November 27th, on CD, pink vinyl, picture disc vinyl, and individual member cassettes here.
