The Lambily helped get Mariah Carey’s 2008 album E=MC2 to No. 1 on the US iTunes charts thanks to a Twitter hashtag campaign.
Mariah fans have had phenomenal successes with their viral campaigns, catapulting the criminally overlooked Glitter soundtrack to the top of the charts with #JusticeForGlitter, making Obsessed a viral hit, and last year giving the elusive chanteuse her 19th (!!) Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 with holiday classic, All I Want For Christmas Is You.
Now, it’s the turn of E=MC2, which gave Mimi her 18th chart-topper, Touch My Body, along with singles Bye Bye, I’ll Be Lovin’ U Long Time, and I Stay In Love.
The record topped the charts when it was first released, and came in at No. 22 in the Billboard year-end charts. It also gave Mariah the biggest opening week sales of her career.
However, it didn’t match the success of her previous effort – The Emancipation Of Mimi – and fans are hoping the campaign will revive interest in the criminally overlooked album.
Upon hearing the news she was back atop the charts, Mariah tweeted, “What is going on?????” along with a string of emojis.

She later teased plans to “celebrate” the achievement with a “singing moment”, and asked fans to send in their requests for songs from the album for her to perform.
