Steps powerhouse Claire Richards kicked off her new Claireaoke web series with a brilliant cover of River Deep, Mountain High.
The singer, who last year released the stunning solo album My Wildest Dreams, started her new series of videos on Instagram on Thursday, and kicked off with a belting version of the classic tune – which, not-so-coincidentally was also her Steps audition song.
“Hi everyone – hope you’re all well and staying safe,” she said. “While we’ve all been in lockdown I’ve had a quite few requests for a little singsong – so I am excited (and nervous) to present the first instalment of #CLAIREAOKE!
“Singing has always helped me get through the toughest times in my life & I know how challenging the current situation can be for lots of people so I hope this helps brighten up a few of your days. 1st up is my karaoke classic and the song I chose for my @OfficialSteps audition.”
She added: “It’s the @CelineDion version of #RiverDeepMountainHigh. Some of you will remember this from the #MyWildestDreams tour last year – but I didn’t dare sing this when I supported Celine at Hyde Park last summer! Here we go!”
We don’t know what we love more – Claire living her best life while belting out Celine Dion in lockdown, or the fact that she has two cherry blossom trees surrounded by disco balls sitting around her house.
Either way, we love it – and if bandmate Faye Tozer’s latest Instagram Live is anything to go by, we won’t have long to wait for new Steps music either.
