Zoe Ball and Graham Norton appear to have confirmed the BBC has selected the UK’s 2023 Eurovision Song Contest entry.
Set to take place in Liverpool in May on behalf of last year’s winners Ukraine, the United Kingdom’s successor to Sam Ryder has yet to be revealed.
However, during her BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show, Zoe and Graham seemed to suggest the performer and song has been picked.
“I haven’t heard the song. I don’t even know who the person is – but I think I was accidentally told who the person is,” says the presenter, with Eurovision commentator Graham adding: “Yes, I think I know who the person is.”
The performer’s identity remains under wraps.
This year’s show will be staged in Liverpool, with Executive Supervisor Martin Österdahl saying: “Liverpool is the ideal place to host the 67th Eurovision Song Contest on behalf of Ukraine.
“The city is synonymous with music and Liverpool Arena exceeds all the requirements needed to stage a global event of this scale.
“We have been very impressed with the passion the city has shown in embracing the Contest and their inclusive ideas for placing last year’s winners, Ukraine, front and centre when thousands of fans visit next May. ”
He adds: “This will be the first Eurovision Song Contest to be held in the UK in 25 years and, as we work with our Host Broadcaster, the BBC, to celebrate Ukraine’s victory, this unique production promises to be a very special one indeed.”
The 2023 Eurovision Song Contest will take place at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool on Saturday, May 13.
