Will Young has released a cover of Bat For Lashes’ 2009 hit Daniel as the lead single from his eighth studio album ‘Crying on the Bathroom Floor’.
The track is Will’s first since his 2019 album ‘Lexicon’ and got its debut play on BBC Radio 2’s Zoe Ball Breakfast Show on Monday (April 26). It was shortly followed by an album announcement.
His new LP is the star’s second collaboration with Richard X, who produced ‘Lexicon’ and the hit single All The Songs. ‘Crying on the Bathroom Floor‘ has 10 tracks in total.
Speaking about the project, Will says: “I’ve always enjoyed singing other people’s songs. There is a liberation to it. It’s how I feel when I approach a script. I have reverence for the piece of art and the artist who created it.
“After 18 years of recording and performing a lot of original material, I loved the idea of creating an album that celebrates some of the modern female artists I so admire in pop.”
