The 2020 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be replaced with a TV special due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Whitney Houston and Depeche Mode lead the classic acts who were set to be recognised in Cleveland, Ohio on 2 May (20), before Covid-19 delayed the proceedings.
Now, both acts, along with stars including The Doobie Brothers, Nine Inch Nails, The Notorious B.I.G., and T-Rex will receive small screen tributes instead, with a special programme set to air on HBO.
The show will air on 7 November (20), with John Sykes, chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, saying in a statement: “To protect the health and safety of our inductees, their families, crews and our attendees, we’ve made the decision that the scheduled live event is not possible.
“Together with HBO and executive producer Joel Gallen, we will still create an exciting program honouring our 2020 inductees, by telling the stories of their incredible contributions to music and impact on a generation of artists that followed them.”
A UK airdate and time has yet to be announced.
