Wham!’s original two albums – ‘Fantastic’ (1983) and ‘Make It Big’ (1984) – are being released on vinyl for the first time in over 30 years.
Home to four UK Top 10 hits – Wham Rap! (Enjoy What You Do?), Young Guns (Go For It), Bad Boys and Club Tropicana – the former LP marked George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley’s first UK No. 1 album and made waves internationally.
Less than a year after its final single was released, the pair returned with Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go – the lead single from their sophomore effort – which topped the charts on both sides of the Atlantic, becoming their biggest success yet.
Careless Whisper (credited to George Michael in the UK) and Freedom also topped the rundown at home, while Everything She Wants reached the summit in the US and, decades later, the holiday staple Last Christmas also reached the top spot.
Celebrating the releases on standard black and limited coloured vinyl, both due March 22, Andrew Ridgeley says: “It’s a wonderful testament to the enduring nature of WHAM!’s music that our legions of loyal fans and the younger cohorts of music fans desire to own the music in their original formats”.
George Michael Entertainment adds: “We are delighted that these two classic albums are once again available on vinyl for a whole new generation to enjoy”.
