For the new Chanel 25 handbag campaign, Margot Robbie channels her inner pop princess in a recreation of Kylie Minogue‘s classic 2002 ‘Come Into My World’ music video.
A collaboration with the original video’s director Michel Gondry, the visual sees a parade of Robbies walking down a a bustling Parisian sidewalk, each version of which is carrying a Chanel 25 bag in a different colour and size.
While Minogue’s original clip was shot on an actual Paris intersection, the recreation was captured on a soundstage in Los Angeles, while maintaining the essence and style of the early-’00s visual.
At one point, the ‘In Your Eyes’ singer makes a surprise appearance, with Robbie waving to the star – who is dressed in pink, much like in her own video – through a window.
“I remember watching it as a kid and thinking it was so cool and clever — the in-camera trickery he’s so famous for,” the ‘Barbie’ actress told Vogue of the original video.
It’s a collaboration decades in the making, with both Minogue and Robbie launching their careers on Australian soap ‘Neighbours’, and the latter’s first-ever concert being the pop legend’s ‘Fever’ tour in Sydney.
In 2023, Minogue named Robbie as her dream pick to portray her in a biopic, but the star is reluctant to go all the way, saying of her latest project: “I can’t sing. So I’m doing Kylie without having to sing and ruin it for everyone.”
Meanwhile, Minogue told French content creator Lyas: “For me, it continues the cyclic feeling of the video. I know Michel was inspired by the repetitive nature of the song, so here we are kind of doing another cycle.”
Robbie has been a Chanel brand ambassador since 2018 and she and Minogue both sat front row at Chanel’s Fall 2026 show during Paris Fashion Week earlier this month.
