Usher has confirmed he has a new album in the works.
It’s been five years since the You Make Me Wanna… star released his eighth and most recent album ‘Hard 2 Love’ and, back in 2019, Usher appeared to confirm work on a sequel to his hit 2004 LP ‘Confessions’.
And while he’s reluctant to confirm a title for the project at this point, the singer tells Billboard new music is coming.
“I am not at the place where I’m going to sign off on the album title at this point,” he says. “But I am working on an album, and it would be very smart to say it will come out this year.
“It’s probably too vague right now to determine whether it’s going to be in the ‘Confessions’ vein or if it’ll be something else.
“It’s still kind of a moving target, as I’m just beginning to put together a sequence.
The OMG hitmaker adds: “I do want to put together a body of work that speaks to all of the people that I’ve been able to capture as fans but also will be something unique to me and to R&B music that doesn’t just live in one space.”
‘Confessions’ is Usher’s best-selling album, topping the charts worldwide and earning a Diamond certification in the US.It features four US No. 1 singles – Yeah!, Burn, Confessions Part II and My Boo – plus Caught Up, all of which were also UK Top 10 hits.
