Prince’s shelved 1986 ‘Camille’ album is set to finally be released.
The LP was recorded under the late star’s feminine alter-ego Camille and will be issued by Third Man Records.
Originally recorded in 1986, the self-titled album was scrapped shortly after test pressings of the finished album were produced.
However, Third Man co-founder Ben Blackwell has confirmed that the label plans to give Camille a full release.
“We’re finally going to put it out,” Blackwell tells Mojo (via Pitchfork), revealing the company has the approval of the late singer’s estate: “Prince’s people agreed – almost too easy.”
All of the songs on the eight-track ‘Camille’ have previously been released in some capacity – including several cuts on cuts went on to feature on ‘Sign O’ The Times’ – but never in the same package.
