After finishing in 19th place at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest with What The Hell Just Happened? , UK girl group Remember Monday are looking to the future.
The trio – starring Lauren Byrne, Holly-Anne Hull and Charlotte Steele – have teamed up with ’00s boy band giants Danny Jones and Dougie Poynter from McFly on a pair of new songs which, according to Lauren, lean into the noughties sound they grew up on.
She told the Daily Star: “One is fun and silly and the other is again upbeat, so fun. There’s no break-up vibes in the future, I don’t know if we turned a corner.
“And what is nice is I feel like our music is quite nostalgic to the nineties and noughties at the minute, that’s what we grew up listening to and love that music and is something we wanna lean into more.
“So writing with McFly who were huge in the noughties, and a band we listened to as well, is amazing, they understand that world, that era really well so that’s been really great.”
Holly added: “That’s another relationship where we go, ‘how has this happened? They are so cool’, they are such good guys and they are our friends as well which is wild. If you told us that a year ago we would have laughed at ya!”
Having collaborated with the Obviously hitmakers, Remember Monday would love to tour with McFly in the future.
Lauren beamed: “That would be nice I would like that. We’ll give them a text! We do think we are the perfect collaboration.”
