‘The Masked Singer UK’ has unmasked its second celebrity – and they’re no stranger to the charts!
During Saturday night’s (January 6) show, Air Fryer, Bubble Tea, Owl, Eiffel Tower, Chicken Caesar and Piranha took to the stage to perform for panellists Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross, Rita Ora and Mo Gilligan.
It ended with Bubble Tea, Chicken Caesar and Owl up for elimination, and after saving the former and the latter, it was Chicken Caesar that was sent home following his performance of Under The Bridge by Red Hot Chili Peppers.
When the mask was removed, their identity was revealed to be actor, comedian and singer, Alexander Armstrong.
Speaking to host Joel Dommett after the mask was removed, Armstrong said: “I’ve been longing to do [‘The Masked Singer UK’]. Every year I’m always getting messages saying, ‘Are you Traffic Cone?’ and I say, ‘Ooh… maybe’.”
“I absolutely have [loved the experience]. I mean, it’s the beginning of the journey and the end of the journey,” he added, “but what a journey it’s been!”
In addition to appearing regularly on TV, fronting shows such as BBC’s ‘Pointless’, Armstrong has released three studio albums, with ‘A Year Of Songs’ (2015) and ‘Upon A Different Shore’ (2016) both going Top 10 in the UK.
His Christmas album, ‘In A Winter Light’ (2017), also peaked in the Top 30.
It comes after legendary singer Dionne Warwick was the first celebrity to be unmasked on last week’s show, as Weather became the first act to be sent home.
