Tom Aspaul is set to hit the road in support of his second album ‘Life In Plastic’.

Last year, the rising star unveiled his second LP and later released a deluxe edition, dubbed ‘Life In Plastic, It’s Expanded’, featuring the MNEK collaboration What Is Real Anymore? and recent single, Thessaloniki.

Announcing his ‘Planet Fantastic’ shows, Tom says: “I am thrilled to be bringing ‘Life In Plastic’ to the stage.

“This album was written with lights, choreo, crowds and outfit changes all in mind. I really want to level-up from ‘The Revenge Body Tour’ – a tour which actually blindsided me, the reception I got across the country was so wild, every venue sold out pretty fast – I almost feel like we hadn’t prepared the show enough for the actual event, though the audiences didn’t mind.

“So this time around, knowing I can do it, I’m so much more confident and ambitious. I’m also super excited to be taking the show abroad.

“It’s been incredibly tough organising this with no agent or promoter, but I got there in the end and I can’t wait to get on stage!”

During the run, Tom will be joined by a selection of local support acts in every city, with each evening promising to be a celebration and showcase of queer, independent music.

Tickets for ‘Planet Fantastic’ are on sale now.

The full list of tour dates is as follows:

APRIL 2023

19 – Les Disquaires, Paris
27 – Night And Day Cafe, Manchester
28 – The Poetry Club, Glasgow

MAY 2023

7 – Whelan’s, Dublin.
15 – Hyde Park Book Club, Leeds
16 – Hare & Hounds, Birmingham
21 – Camp, Margate
23 – Oslo, London
24 – Komedia, Brighton

JUNE 2023

9 – Bookclub, Chicago
14 – The Baby G, Toronto
15 – Purgatory, Brooklyn

Last year, Tom revealed the record is a continuation of his debut and confirmed a sequel is on the way during an interview with RETROPOP’s July 2022 issue.

“Album three will be part of the trilogy,” he smiled, before admitting, “and then after that I have no idea…

“Part of me is thinking, ‘Will I go into managing other artists and writing their music, helping them set up as an artist?’ Maybe I could do that, or maybe doing music production for other artists is something I’m interested in. Because ‘Life In Plastic’ was pretty much all produced by me with Gil Lewis.

“So the idea of writing for other people is something that I’m hesitant to get back into, because I didn’t have a great experience towards the end of my songwriting career, but I’m a bit more confident in terms of what I can do as a producer now. So, that’s sort of like my mid-term plan.”

Before he puts out the follow-up to ‘Life In Plastic’, Tom is planning to release a covers project – although he remained tight-lipped about the kind of songs we can expect from the EP.

He teased: “It’s not going to be part of the album cycle, but you know Lady Gaga does a jazz album every now and then?

“I’m not saying I’m doing a jazz album, but I’d like to do something a bit more organic with a band, because I feel like I’ve gone so far this way with ‘Life In Plastic’ that I feel like I need to do something a bit more grounded.”
