Tiffany loves reconnecting with her ‘80s peers now that they can “have a glass of wine” and “chat about all kinds of things”.
The singer found fame in 1987 after topping the charts on both sides of the Atlantic with her cover of Tommy James and the Shondells’ I Think We’re Alone Now when she was just 15.
Celebrating 35 years since her big breakthrough, Tiffany admits she loves touring with artists from that era now and reconnect as adults.
“I was meeting all these wonderful musicians,” she recalls. “We didn’t really have a lot of multi-festivals in America, so it was amazing to have all this multi-talent, meet all these people – even though I was young.
“I would be there backstage, and they would be nice and talk to me, but there wasn’t really much to talk to me about!”
She adds: “It’s really special to me now, when I do re-meet these artists, and I’m like, ‘Hi, I’m an adult! We can have a glass of wine, we can have a chat about all kinds of things!’”
Tiffany returns to the UK this summer for her ‘Rhythm & Retro’ tour, featuring stripped-back renditions of her biggest hits and fan-favourites.
“‘Rhythm & Retro’ is about embracing some of the album cuts – and, of course, the hits – and some of my favourite songs from the ‘80s that I just love,” she explains.
“I’m already coming out to do some festivals, and it just seemed kind of perfect to put something together to say, ‘Hey! How’s everybody been doing? What’ve you guys been up to?’”
