The Weeknd After Hours

The most streamed song of all time – Blinding Lights by Canadian superstar The Weeknd – has broken another record.

The ’80s-inspired hit, lifted from his fourth studio album, ‘After Hours’, has passed four billion streams barrier on Spotify, becoming the first song in history to do so.

In a statement about the feat, The Weeknd – real name Abel Tesfaye – said: “I’m so thankful this song makes people feel a way that they keep going back to listen”.

To date, Blinding Lights has spent over 100 weeks in the U.K. charts since its release in late 2019, setting records for most weeks in the Top 5 (43), Top 10 (57) and Top 40 (86). In the US, it replaced Chubby Checker’s The Twist as the biggest Billboard Hot 100 hit of all time.

Last year, The Weeknd became the artist with the highest attendance at Wembley Stadium. The ‘After Hours til Dawn’ tour is set to be shown in cinemas in a new film expected soon.

It comes after the star recently teased a new album, which is expected to be the sequel to ‘After Hours’ and its follow-up, ‘Dawn FM’ (2022).
