The Veronicas stars Jessie and Lisa Origliasso have released a pair of solo singles.
The sibling duo – best known for hit singles Untouched and 4ever – had fans fooled earlier this week when they wiped all content from their Instagram page, prompting talk of a breakup.
While the page was updated to feature a quote from writer Kahlil Gibran – reading “Love knows not its own depth, until the hour of separation” – they later shared their individual singles on their personal accounts.
The releases come as part of an advertising campaign by Vodka Cruiser, aimed at “removing barriers to female and femme fun and breaking down the societal stigma associated with self-pleasure and self-love,” according to a press release.
Explaining further on their Instagram page, the duo added: “We are powerful together, but we can be equally as powerful alone.”
“‘Seeing Stars’ is all about exploring the idea of feminine power,” says Jessie of her uptempo release. “By flipping the well-known stereotype of ‘boys and their toys’ on its head, ‘Seeing Stars’ is a song that reminds us that self-pleasure is for everyone.”
Meanwhile, Lisa adds of her ballad Cruisin’ On My Own: “Everything about the world we are living in today is geared towards being fast-paced and transactional.
“My song talks about the importance of taking the time to discover the most important relationship in your life – the one with yourself.
“Taking your time to really understand yourself, your needs and to empower yourself through self-care.”
Seeing Stars and Cruisin’ On My Own are out now.
