The Veronicas have shared Detox as the latest single from their forthcoming album, ‘Gothic Summer’, due spring 2024.
The track is the follow-up to the Origliasso twins’ previous release, Perfect, and channels the pop-rock sound that saw them first find success two decades ago.
Alongside the track, a Pat Freyne-directed music video sees the duo dance atop folding chairs while performing the track.
“We contrasted wide shots with extreme close-ups, and purposefully improvised dance scenes to encourage physical and emotional mirroring in the moment,” they say of the clip.
“A mix of ’60s choreography, fused with some Michael Jackson kicks and high energy, to encapsulate the fighting emotional volatility of the song. The video ends in a burst of underwater colour and sinking euphoria upon the tempo change, giving in to the push-pull cycle of the song’s lyrics.”
