The Police have officially joined TikTok as the band celebrates 40 years of their fifth and final album ‘Synchronicity’.
The iconic new wave trio – starring Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland – will be sharing original content, delving into the archive with never before seen footage and inviting the global TikTok community #BehindTheSong with an intimate window into the creative process of their timeless hits.
The group is already hugely popular with the TikTok community, with Every Breath You Take – the lead single from ‘Synchronicity’ – the subject to a number of viral TikTok trends with 165,000+ total creations to date. I’ll Be Missing You, which samples the iconic track, has also had communities around the globe paying homage to the late great The Notorious B.I.G.
When asked about joining TikTok, Summers said: “It is great to continue the legacy of The Police and what better place than TikTok in the time we exist in.
“We live in – let’s face it, difficult times, but imagine our parents and grandparents then bent over those little radio speakers to hear about the world…”
He added: “As aficionados and fans, we must continue to have faith and believe in the art of music, and we hope our music can bring a positive message to people everywhere. Thank you TikTok!”
To celebrate joining the creative community on TikTok, the Message In A Bottle group has released an Official Guest Playlist including some of their most iconic songs.
