Kylie Minogue is continuing to climb the UK Singles Chart with Padam Padam.
The lead track from her upcoming album Tension this week rises to a new peak of No. 8 as it edges ever-closer to the Top 5.
According to Music Week, the single amassed 25,549 chart-equivalent sales including downloads and streams, along with cassette (189 units) and CD (115 units) sales, during its fifth week.
As its streaming figures continue to grow week-on-week, Kylie’s chart domination shows no sign of slowing down, with fans calling for new remixes of the track to help fuel the fire.
“I would love to,” she beamed. “And I think now is the time. There I said it. Now is the time to do our best to make that happen.”
Padam Padam, is one of 11 tracks on her 16th album – alongside previous release 10 out of 10 with Oliver Heldens – of which Kylie says: “I started this album with an open mind and a blank page. Unlike my last two albums there wasn’t a ‘theme’, it was about finding the heart or the fun or the fantasy of that moment and always trying to service the song.
“I wanted to celebrate each song’s individuality and to dive into that freedom. I would say it’s a blend of personal reflection, club abandon and melancholic high.”
For the LP, the pop icon has worked with a number of producers, with seven of the tracks being produced and co-written with her long-time collaborators, Biff Stannard and Duck Blackwell.
Discussing the recording process, Kylie adds: “I loved being back in the studio with my collaborators but was also able to benefit from remote recording, which we have all got used to – my mobile studio never left my side for a year and a half!
“The album is a mix of songs I have written and songs which really spoke to me. Making this album helped me navigate challenging times and celebrate the now. I hope it accompanies listeners on their own journeys and becomes part of their story.”
