Kylie Minogue’s latest single, Padam Padam, could land her a spot in the Oxford English Dictionary.
The single is currently climbing the UK charts and could make its Top 10 debut this week, becoming her most successful hit since All The Lovers in 2010.
And fans are so passionate about the release that they’ve been pestering Oxford University Press to add its title – used to describe the beating of a heart – to the resource.
A source told The Sun’s Bizarre column: “Loads of fans have been contacting the Oxford English Dictionary about actually getting the word ‘Padam’ added.
“Kylie joked about it in an interview recently but now people have taken it upon themselves to make it happen.
“It has entered her fans’ vocabulary and they want to make it official.”
Padam Padam is one of 11 tracks on Kylie’s 16th album, ‘Tension’ – alongside previous release 10 out of 10 with Oliver Heldens – of which Kylie says: “I started this album with an open mind and a blank page. Unlike my last two albums there wasn’t a ‘theme’, it was about finding the heart or the fun or the fantasy of that moment and always trying to service the song.
“I wanted to celebrate each song’s individuality and to dive into that freedom. I would say it’s a blend of personal reflection, club abandon and melancholic high.”
For the LP, the pop icon has worked with a number of producers, with seven of the tracks being produced and co-written with her long-time collaborators, Biff Stannard and Duck Blackwell.
Discussing the recording process, Kylie adds: “I loved being back in the studio with my collaborators but was also able to benefit from remote recording, which we have all got used to – my mobile studio never left my side for a year and a half!
“The album is a mix of songs I have written and songs which really spoke to me. Making this album helped me navigate challenging times and celebrate the now. I hope it accompanies listeners on their own journeys and becomes part of their story.”
