The Killers don’t plan on performing much of their new album ‘Pressure Machine’ live on stage.
The group returned this week with their seventh album but, according to frontman Brandon Flowers, tracks from the LP won’t be occupying space in their live setlist.
Frontman Brandon Flowers tells Paste: “This album is not lending itself so much to arenas and stadiums.
“It feels more like a theatre club situation but there might be a couple.”
The introspective set comes almost exactly one year since the group released their 2020 LP ‘Imploding the Mirage’ and, while that record was inspired by “synthesizer music,” the new album is a more reflective set prompted by the pandemic.
“It just stopped, and there was this isolation, and words like quarantine were getting thrown around,” he adds. ”It reminded me of living in this town [in Utah] I spent my formative years in.
“When I was there, it was probably a few thousand people. I started going back there mentally and these songs started to come.”
The Killers will tour their new record alongside ‘Imploding the Mirage’ with an extensive trek covering the UK, Europe and North America throughout 2022.
‘Pressure Machine’ is available on CD, vinyl (including a limited slipcase variant) and cassette.
