The Killers’ next album will see bassist Mark Stoermer rejoin the band after sitting out on their new music.
The musician joined the group in 2002 following the departure of founding member Dell Neal, but went on hiatus from performing in 2016.
However, after guitarist Dave Keuning rejoined the band for new album ‘Pressure Machine’, Mark is returning for a new project that is already underway.
Drummer Ronnie Vannucci, Jr. tells NME: “There have been some really kind remarks that I’ve never heard from the guys before…
“We’re very sobered up from the experience of being locked away. I do think that all four of us are going to be on this next record.
“We’ve already started messing around a bit, so that’s good.”
Mark sat out on the ‘Pressure Machine’ album due to Covid concerns.
The band is working on a handful of incomplete songs at Dave’s San Diego studio, with singer Brandon Flowers revealing the new music is “a little bit more canyon rock, maybe a little bit more traditional Killers, I guess.”
‘Pressure Machine’ is a more introspective, stripped-back affair compared to the group’s past releases, including 2020 LP ‘Imploding the Mirage’.
In our review of the album, Retro Pop made comparison’s with Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Nebraska’, but noted the collection “lacks in romanticism and a thread of silver lining running through its core.”
