The Fugees have cancelled their reunion tour.

The trio – starring Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean and Pras Michel – had planned to go on the road late last year to mark the 25th anniversary of their classic album ‘The Score’, but were forced to push the shows due to Covid.

At the time, they insisted the delay was necessary to ensure “the best chance that all cities on the tour will be fully open”.

Despite promising new dates for early 2022, the band has now cancelled the run altogether, insisting “the continued Covid pandemic has made touring conditions difficult”.

“We anticipate and understand disappointment but our anniversary tour will not be able to happen,” they said, assuring they “want to make sure we keep our fans and ourselves healthy and safe.

“An idea sparked to honour and celebrate this 25th anniversary of The Score but we see now it may not currently be our time for revisiting this past work.

“We’re grateful for the special night we did get to share with some of you in New York, with that rare live moment.”

They concluded: “If opportunity, public safety, and scheduling allow, we hope to be able to revisit this again sometime soon.

“THANK YOU for all your love and support throughout the years.”

The Ready or Not hitmakers briefly returned to the stage for a one-off Global Citizen Live performance last year.

It was previously reported that international tour dates could be in jeopardy as Pras fights to get his passport back from the Department of Justice.

The musician is under criminal indictment from the Justice Department as part of a probe into an alleged political influence campaign involving a Chinese investment company.

His lawyer, David Kenner, said: “It’s certainly something they were aware of and I don’t think they ever seriously thought that it would be an impediment.”
