The Corrs have started work on their first album in almost 10 years.
The Irish band, who released their most recent LP, ‘Jupiter Calling’, in 2017, have been back in the studio writing and recording new material, with Caroline Corr admitting the creative process has been “brilliant”.
Speaking after the group was honoured with a Civic Reception by Louth County Council in Dundalk, Ireland, she said: “We’ve been doing a lot of different types of things the last few years, and we are recording another album, which I have to say, is a real surprise to us, actually.
“Obviously, we’ve worked together for so many years, being family, and we always think, ‘Oh my god, are we ever going to do, will we ever do another record?'”
She added: “Because every time we go in, we start it, and we think, ‘Okay, well, this before we go’. We think, ‘Oh, this would be no problem, we’ll just get in there, we’ll do a couple of songs’. And then inevitably it turns into something else, and we’ve just decided to keep going with this, and hopefully we’ll get it finished at some point.
“But it’s been great, it’s been brilliant to actually go back in and write it again, and I mean, we just can’t believe we’re still able to do that.”
The group’s most recent release, a reissue of 2001’s ‘Best Of The Corrs’, features the band’s latest recordings, covers of Fleetwood Mac classics ‘Little Lies’, ‘Songbird’ and ‘Everywhere’, in tribute to Christine McVie following her sad passing in 2022.
