Tegan & Sara’s best-selling memoir ‘High School’ has been scooped as the basis for a new TV show.

The indie pop duo’s tome has been picked up by Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment, who will produce the new IMDb TV series about their teenage years. Actress-turned-director Clea DuVall will oversee the project, reported Variety.

A synopsis of the series reads: “Told through a backdrop of ’90s grunge and rave culture, the series weaves between parallel and discordant memories of twin sisters growing up down the hall from one another.”

 “We are incredibly excited to be working with Lauren [Anderson], Ryan [Pirozzi, co-heads of content and programming at IMDb TV], and the fantastic IMDb TV team to bring ‘High School’ to life and apologize in advance to our mother for forcing her to relive this period of time with us again,” said Tegan & Sara in a statement.

“We’ve made casting suggestions on her behalf to the incomparable Clea DuVall and our wonderful partners at Plan B.”

And DuVall commented: “I am grateful to Plan B, Amazon Studios and IMDb TV for their partnership in bringing Tegan and Sara’s beautiful and complex memoir to life.”

Tegan & Sara have released nine studio albums with their most recent LP ‘Hey, I’m Just Like You’ released in 2019. It consists of twelve rerecorded songs they initially wrote as teenagers.

Although the duo were keen to revisit the classic tunes, Tegan & Sara insist they won’t appear in the new TV show.

“After our announcement that our memoir High School got green lit for TV, a few people text me excited that we’re acting now,” they tweeted.

“Guyssss the memoir is about us in high school in the 90’s. We are 40. I know we look youngish but we don’t look THAT young.”

The group added, “Plus @cleaduvall said no.”
