Taylor Swift came out on top at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), tying the record for the most wins in one night.
The Cruel Summer singer led the pack with nine wins, the majority of which were for her self-directed Anti-Hero video. She’s now second to Beyoncé for most overall wins at the VMAs. Madonna has 20 VMA wins while Lady Gaga has earned a total of 19 VMAs.
Elsewhere during the ceremony, Shakira became the first South American artist to win the Video Vanguard Award, with the superstar collecting the prize after delivering a 10-minute medley of her biggest hits.
Meanwhile, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs took home the Global Icon Award after a performance of some of his best-loved songs, introduced by Mary J. Blige and his daughter, Chance.
The VMAs were hosted by Nicki Minaj, who last year emceed alongside Lil Wayne and Jack Harlow, but this time appeared solo.
