Take That’s Greatest Days movie will film in summer 2021.
Developed off the back of Take That’s hugely popular jukebox musical, The Band, the story centres on five women who were best friends as teenagers and all big fans of the eponymous group. 25 years later after losing contact the four of them reunite to fulfil their dream of seeing The Band perform
Speaking on The One Show, the singer shared further details about the project, revealing: “So basically, we had a musical a few years ago called The Band and it toured all around the country, it was a beautiful story of about five fans and in their life was this band.
“And so, this film company’s picked it up and it really is it’s gonna be a proper film this,” explained the star. “We’re very excited about it.”
Teasing further details about the film, Gary added: “It’s going to shoot next summer, it’s now been retitled Greatest Days, see what they did there? And it’s gonna be released in [2022].”
He also revealed the band has been cosying up to the movie’s writer in the hopes that it will land them a role in the flick, saying: “We’ve been sending the writer flowers, presents, chocolates because we’re determined to get a cameo in this movie.”
The group is currently on hiatus as Gary continues to promote his chart-topping solo album, Music Played by Humans, but he’s insisted the trio will be back around the time the film is released.
“Everyone at the end of the last tour wanted to [record a new album], but we’ve been on this treadmill of album/tour every two years for about 14 years and everyone really wanted a little chunk of time away,” the Incredible singer previously explained.
“So, I’m trying to be respectful but I just can’t do that personally,” he shared. “I like writing, producing, touring – so I need to do my own thing.
“But maybe in 2023, because we have this movie that’s being shot next year called ‘The Greatest Days’ and I’m hoping when it’s released we can kind of tour off the back of it.”
