Sugababes have teamed up with MNEK for a new remix of their classic hit Run For Cover.
The track was released as the third single from the group’s debut album ‘One Touch’ in 2001 and, ahead of the release of an expanded 20th anniversary edition of the LP, set to drop in October, the group has released a new version of the tune.
It’s one of 15 remixed included on the release, which also features the original 12 track album, plus eight B-sides and previously-unreleased demo recordings from the era.
‘One Touch’ was released in 2000 and included the hit singles Overload, New Year and Soul Sound.
And it’s not the group’s only new music with MNEK; they tell NME the trio has been working with the producer since the early ’10s and will collaborate with him again on their upcoming album.
“He’s incredible,” says Siobhan Donaghy. “We’ve been working with him in the studio [on new music] prior to COVID and obviously on this remix – and it’s a relationship that goes back to the [unreleased] MKS record, so he’s definitely someone we’re going to continue collaborating with.”
Original Sugababes members Siobhan, Keisha Buchanan and Mutya Buena took to the band’s official social media pages over the weekend to tease a celebration of two decades since the group debuted on the charts.
Alongside three emojis – one representing each member of the group – they shared a link to their official website, featuring a signup form to receive more information about the 20th anniversary plans.
It’s happy news for Sugababes fans, after Keisha previously suggested the group had been planning to celebrate their 20th anniversary in 2020, but had called off the celebrations amid the pandemic.
Speaking during an Instagram Live stream, she shared: “We had so many plans for last year. 2020 was our anniversary year, we built it up to do so many things but it didn’t happen, so we have to restructure.
“We just have to be motivated to do it and passionate about it and once we are actually in the studio it flows really easily for us. But it’s about getting us all on the same page on the same date and the pandemic makes it really tricky.
“It just has to be organic and be on the same page as far as our schedules are concerned.”
