Sugababes star Keisha Buchanan has claimed Girls Aloud’s comeback single Something New originated from one of her group’s recording sessions.
The star opened up on the track in a YouTube video on her solo channel during a Q&A session, when a fan asked, “Were there ever any unreleased Sugababes songs that went to other artists?”
Keisha replied: “We did work on a record one time… and it was us working on a track, we were doing tons of melodies and then we decided that it wasn’t really the direction we wanted to go in.
“That track became Girls Aloud’s Something New,” she said.
Alongside her response, Keisha also shared a clip of herself working out the melody to a simple beat during the session – which is very similar to the chorus on Girls Aloud’s single.
Keisha isn’t formally listed in the credits for Something New, which is officially written by Brian Higgins, Wayne Hector, Tim Deal, Matt Gray, Carla Marie Williams, Tove Nilsson, Nicola Roberts and Florrie Arnold.
