Sugababes proved a massive hit once again at Glastonbury as fans were reportedly turned away from the festival’s West Holts Stage due to overcrowding.
The trio – who previously shut down the smaller Field of Avalon stage when they played in 2022 – returned this year to the bigger West Holts arena, but they proved so popular that some fans were unable to get in to see the group.
Writing on X, one fan wrote: “Once again, my ambitions to see Sugababes at Glastonbury have been thwarted. It’s one-in and one-out at West Holts right now, and the queue is huge. They should do the Legend slot next year.”
Another said: “They’ve closed the entire area around the West Holts stage because of the amount of people who want to see Sugababes. Same happened for their Avalon stage set in 2022. It really needs to be more widely acknowledged that they’re one of the toppermost adored groups of their era.”
Speaking during their performance, Keisha Buchanan told the crowd: “We were backstage asking management, “Are people there?” We wasn’t sure, so thank you so much for coming out.”
They later shared on Instagram: “Second year of shutting down Glastonbury! Thank you so much! We had the best time ever.”
The trio – also starring Mutya Buena and Siobhan Donaghy – delivered a hit-packed set, kicking off with their first No. 1 Freak Like Me and featuring 2000s classics such as Round Round, Hole In The Head, Red Dress, Push The Button, Ugly and About You Now.
They also played Today from their 2022 album ‘The Lost Tapes‘ and last year’s comeback single When The Rain Comes, lifted from the group’s forthcoming LP.
