Melanie C insists the Spice Girls were never in the running for Glastonbury 2021.
The Viva Forever group was rumoured to hit the Pyramid Stage at the festival to celebrate their 25th year in music, before the event was cancelled for a second year due to the pandemic.
However, according to Melanie, that’s not the case and she, Emma Bunton, Mel B and Geri Horner were never in discussions to perform.
She tells the ‘Celebrity Search Engine’ podcast: “I can tell you the absolute truth, we’ve never been approached.
“I would love to play Glastonbury, in fact, all the girls would. But yeah, haven’t yet had that call.”
Back in 2019, Emma hinted that a performance at the Worthy Farm gathering could be on the cards, sharing: “We have been asked – we’re going to see how this tour goes first!”
And after the success of the Spice Girls’ 2019 reunion tour, Melanie admits she’ll be “very, very cross” if they don’t return to the stage again soon.
“I can’t speak for everybody but if it was down to me, as soon as we can, we will,” she continues. “The success of the shows in 2019 and just how much we loved it, we have to do it.
“If we don’t do it, I’ll be very, very cross!”
Glastonbury organisers announced the cancellation of this year’s event back in January, confirming they will “simply not be able to make the Festival happen this year”.
“With great regret, we must announce that this year’s Glastonbury festival will not take place, and that this will be another enforced fallow year for us,” organisers Michael and Emily Eavis explained.

“In spite of our efforts to move heaven and earth, it has become clear that we simply will not be able to make the festival happen this year. We are so sorry to let you all down.”
Glastonbury will not be rescheduled this year and is expected to return in 2022.
“We are very confident we can deliver something really special for us all in 2022!” they added.
