Queen of Kitchen Discos Sophie Ellis-Bextor is heading out on the road next year with her Kitchen Disco Tour – with a new album on the way too!
The Murder On The Dancefloor star became a lockdown icon with her weekly shows, juggling musical performances with keeping her kids entertained – all in the name of Friday night entertainment.
Just when we thought it was all over, Sophie, who recently launched her first-ever podcast, confirmed she’s keeping the series going and inviting fans along for the ride on her forthcoming UK tour.
“During lockdown, our family kitchen discos became a precious time where we could all bop about and be a bit silly,” the Take Me Home (A Girl Like Me) singer gushed in a press release. “It made me feel connected to everyone who joined us and I can honestly say the music was a real tonic which brought sparkly joy to my soul every Friday.
“The discos we shared have inspired me and now I want to see all your faces so I can sing for you. I want to give everyone a night where just for a little while, we can all lose ourselves under the mirror ball and dance and have fun. Won’t that feel magical?! I CANNOT WAIT!”
The tour will begin in Glasgow, Scotland, and see the star travel across the U.K. for eight shows across May (21), including a stop at the iconic London Palladium.
The full list of dates is as follows:
7th May Glasgow Royal Concert Hall
9th May Birmingham Symphony Hall
10th May Southend Cliff Pavilion
13th May London Palladium
15th May Bexhill On Sea De La Warr Pavilion
17th May Guildford G Live
18th May Manchester Bridgewater Hall

Ahead of the live dates, Sophie will also release a new album, Songs From The Kitchen Disco, on November 13th, comprising the songs that soundtracked her lockdown shows, including six of the star’s UK Top 10 hits. Sophie’s version of Alcazar’s Crying At The Discotheque will be released as the first single on September 18th.
The album is available to pre-order on 2LP coloured vinyl, CD and cassette in multiple signed bundles.
