Sinitta is convinced she has a ‘psychic connection’ with Simon Cowell.
The singer first met the music mogul in 1983 and became his first signing as a record boss. They went on to score a string of hits together including So Macho and Toy Boy and enjoyed a romance with one another.
While their romantic connection ended several decades ago, Sinitta insists their bond remains and Simon can automatically tell when something’s wrong – even if they haven’t spoken for a while.
Speaking to new! magazine, Sinitta recalled her 2020 Covid-19 battle, revealing: “I answered the phone and [Simon] just said, ‘You’ve got the virus haven’t you?’
“He didn’t even say hello! He said he just knew something was wrong. We ended up laughing because I thought it was so sweet. He told me he can always tell when something is wrong with me. It’s almost like we’re twins.”
Sinitta spent time with Simon over the Christmas period and travelled to Barbados, where she enjoyed the holidays with his partner Lauren Silverman, and their seven-year-old son Eric.
And the GTO hitmaker shared an update on ‘The X factor’ judge’s health after breaking his back last year in an electric bike accident.
“When he broke his back, under any normal circumstances, I would have been on the first plane over,” she shared. “But I knew that even if I went I wouldn’t be able to see him because of Covid. It was such a weird year…
“It was so lovely to see them and all of us had dinner together a few times,” Sinitta continued. “But it was so important for us to see each other in person because he knew I’d been ill and I think he was playing his injury down so I didn’t worry.
“I needed to see him with my own eyes. I wanted to know he was still the sarcastic and silly Simon we all know and love. I knew then I could stop worrying about him.”
While Sinitta’s been kept off stage amid the pandemic, she did return with new music in the form of single Paradise in 2020. The single, which samples Donna Summer’s Love to Love you Baby, offered up renewed hope of a new studio album from the star.
And she’s set to join the cast of the upcoming ‘Chicago’ UK Tour later this year in the iconic role of Matron Mama Morton. The show also stars Coronation Street’s Faye Brookes as Roxie Hart and RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star Divina De Campo as Mary Sunshine.
A full list of dates is yet to be announced.
