Shania Twain is the subject of the new Netflix documentary ‘Not Just A Girl’.
Hitting the platform on July 26, the feature “takes viewers from her humble beginnings in Timmins, Ontario, where she was raised poor and inspired by the story of Dolly Parton, through her initial record label signing in Nashville, and onto her career-defining moment meeting her future husband and rock producer Mutt Lange ahead of writing, recording and releasing her breakthrough album ‘The Woman in Me’.”
The I’m Gonna Getcha Good star shared the trailer for the career-spanning flick, writing: “OMG I love this trailer!! It’s crazy to see my entire career in 90seconds.”
The film features footage from studio sessions throughout Shania’s career, along with all-new interviews with the country-pop superstar singer and collaborators including Lionel Richie, Orville Peck, Kelsea Ballerini, and others.
“She was the first person to break that door open and go across the music genres,” says the Hello star in the trailer. “She was that trailblazer.”
Shania adds: “Taking the risks to do things your way can be scary. You gotta be brave.”
The documentary was produced by Mercury Studios and directed by Joss Crowley and is accompanied by the compilation album ‘Not Just A Girl (The Highlights)’, featuring the new single Not Just A Girl.
‘Not Just A Girl (The Highlights)’ is out July 26 digitally, with physical editions due September 2 and available to pre-order now.
