Shania Twain offers a number of snippets of tracks from her forthcoming sixth studio album in her new Netflix documentary ‘Not Just A Girl’.
The Man! I Feel Like a Woman hitmaker’s new feature-length special sees the country-pop superstar look back over her life and career and is expected to lead into the release of her first LP in five years.
“I am here in London finishing my album – and getting with some great UK talent and creatives,” she teases, before offering a look into studio sessions with producer Mark Ralph.
In addition to her latest release Not Just A Girl, Shania has worked with the songwriter and producer on further tracks for the project, two of which she previewed in the film.
‘I’m not a girl / I’m not a boy / I’m not a baby / I’m not a toy / I’m a queen’, she sings on one number, before declaring herself the ‘queen of me‘.
“It’s uplifting. It’s still a lot of female point of view,” she adds of the new material. “I’m more swinging back into the space of, I don’t even want to say ‘female empowerment’, but self-empowerment.
“I mean, I’m a woman but I’m just feeling very good in my own skin and less apologetic than ever. I’m good, you know. Unless something else knocks me down along the way, but like I always do I think I’ll just get back up again.”
A release date for Shania’s sixth studio album has yet to be confirmed. ‘Not Just A Girl’ is streaming on Netflix now.
