Shania Twain is planning to collaborate with Harry Styles following their sensational Coachella performance.
The country-pop superstar teamed up with the ex-One Direction singer for renditions of her iconic singles Man! I Feel Like a Woman and You’re Still The One at the California event earlier this year – and she’s determined it won’t be a one-off.
Speaking following the release of her latest single Waking Up Dreaming, Shania revealed she’d determined for the pair to hit the studio and work on new music together.
“Not on the new album, but in the future, I would say yes. I’m going to hold Harry to that,” she told Extra.
“I think we surprised each other [with] how natural it was [at Coachella]. So, I do plan on doing that.”
Waking Up Dreaming is the first track to be lifted from Shania’s forthcoming sixth studio album, with the Come On Over star revealing: “I’m really excited about cheering people up.
“This album is very chirpy and I’m very frank with my lyrics on it, so it’s not a fluffy, lyrical album. It’s a happy album.
“I had a very productive songwriting pandemic period and as much as we were isolated, it was almost like I wanted to cheer myself up, and that just came out in the music. It’s so danceable.”
The That Don’t Impress Me Much star teased new material in her Netflix documentary, which saw her in the studio in London finishing work on tracks for the project.
“I am here in London finishing my album – and getting with some great UK talent and creatives,” she teases, before offering a look into studio sessions with producer Mark Ralph.
In addition to her soundtrack release Not Just A Girl, Shania has worked with the songwriter and producer on further tracks for the project, two of which she previewed in the film.
‘I’m not a girl / I’m not a boy / I’m not a baby / I’m not a toy / I’m a queen’, she sings on one number, on which she declares herself the ‘queen of me’.
“It’s uplifting. It’s still a lot of female point of view,” she adds of the new material. “I’m more swinging back into the space of, I don’t even want to say ‘female empowerment’, but self-empowerment.
“I mean, I’m a woman but I’m just feeling very good in my own skin and less apologetic than ever. I’m good, you know. Unless something else knocks me down along the way, but like I always do I think I’ll just get back up again.”
A release date for Shania’s sixth studio album has yet to be confirmed. ‘Not Just A Girl’ is streaming on Netflix now.
