Shania Twain is a big fan of her album track Who’s Gonna Be Your Girl.
The song appears on the country-pop icon’s 2017 comeback LP ‘Now’ but didn’t get the single treatment alongside hits Life’s About to Get Good and Swingin’ With My Eyes Closed.
However, it’s one of Shania’s all-time favourites from her own repertoire and one she wishes more casual listeners were aware of.
“There’s a song off the ‘Now’ album called Who’s Gonna Be Your Girl,” she tells Home Now Radio on Apple Music Hits.
“I just enjoy listening to that song as a listener, a music listener. It’s very easy going. It reminds me a little bit of the song Forever and For Always.”
That song, the fourth single from Shania’s fourth album ‘Up!’, is one of the star’s biggest hits and was named Song of the Year at both the 2004 BMI Country Songwriter Awards and 2004 European BMI Awards.
She adds: “I’m a very acoustic guitar writing songwriter, and I like to jangle on the guitars. I’m figuring out melodies.
“So the songs that often go to that rolling over acoustic finger jangle are always the songs that resonate most with me.”
It’s not just past hits Shania has her eye on; earlier this year, the star revealed she is “in new music mode” and has written “enough music for three albums” over the past 12 months.
